The areas normally involved are the elbows, knees, and the skin behind the ears, the trunk, and the scalp. The disease may also affect the underarms and genital areas.

Psoriasis is a noncontiguous widespread skin condition that causes rapid skin cell reproduction resulting in red, dry patches of thickened skin. The dry flakes and skin scales are contemplation to result from the rapid buildup of skin cells. Psoriasis usually affects the skin of the elbows, knees, and scalp.

The inflammation is also caused due to the immunity defect in the body. Therefore the cells grow in an abnormally faster pace and would cluster on the surface of the skin, leading to lesions. Sometimes, the red scaly patches also bleed. Palm plantar Psoriasis is pretty similar to some other diseases such as keradermis, but is similar to psoriases on the other parts of the body.

Causes of Psoriasis

The underlying cause of psoriasis is unknown. However, what we do know is that the symptoms of psoriasis occur when skin cells begin to mature more rapidly than normal. As a result, these poorly developed cells cannot shed quickly, resulting in a build-up of skin which leads to the thick and scaly rash.

Suspected triggers of psoriasis include:

• Family history of psoriasis.
• Stress or anxiety.
• Reaction to certain drugs.
• Certain infections such as strep throat.
• Drinking alcohol.

Weather and climate

The combination of excessive cold outside and then the presence of indoor heating agents inside can trigger Psoriasis in body. Both conditions in combination dry out the skin and can further make existing Psoriasis conditions worse. Winter holidays can also involve more work around the house, which maybe curtailed because of Psoriasis. Illness during winter can weaken the immunity of a person, making them more prone to Psoriasis. Being in the sun can severely help improve the condition. However, usage of the air conditioner must be avoided as it dries the skin. Using moisturizers on a regular basis also helps to curb Psoriasis.

Vitamin A is also good for the skin. A diet rich in vitamin A will reduce wrinkles and prevent dry skin. This vitamin is important in the production and maintenance of skin cells and without it, your skin will show the deficiency. Fruits contain plenty of vitamin A, so be sure to consume plenty every day. To top it off, recent studies have shown that when individuals consume plenty of Vitamin A, they can reduce the effects of psoriases.

Everyone knows that the B Vitamins are good for you, but do you know which vitamins are good for the skin? Niacin and biotin are the two top B vitamins for skin care. A lack of biotin can cause hair loss and itchy skin, but rest assured you can get the proper amounts just by eating bananas, eggs, rice, and other foods. Niacin helps skin retain moisture and improves skin tone. Using these lotions can provide shiny, healthy looking skin with quick results.

How To Find the Best Stop Snoring Solution for You

Posted by Admin Tuesday, April 5, 2011 4:30 AM 2 comments
When you start researching stop snoring solutions you begin to realize just how many different approaches are available for you to try. They range from stop snoring sprays to mouthpieces which are designed to keep your airways open to pretty drastic surgeries. You can be forgiven for feeling that you need to be a qualified MD to work out which snoring solution would be most appropriate for you.

But it is extremely important to take a very logical approach to work out which is the best solution to your individual and unique snoring issues. We are all different. We are all individual. There is not one single stop snoring product which will work for everyone. All of these solutions do work for some people. And so you do have to do your research thoroughly and then make an informed choice to find your snoring cure.

Fortunately, thanks to the internet, the process of research is far easier than it was in the past. One has to be aware however that it is necessary to also check out the credentials of the person who is promoting a particular snoring cure online. It's worth checking also to see what kind of success rate a snoring aid has or if there are real testimonials from satisfied customers.

At the end of the day it is your health which is affected by snoring and perhaps your relationship as well. And so taking the time to diligently research the possible stop snoring solutions is time well spent. I know what I would do. I would start by making a list of every single stop snoring aid that I could find mentioned anywhere at all. Then I would take each one and list the pros and cons in terms of simplicity to use, comfort, invasiveness, apparent success rate, strength of testimonials, suitability and, last of all, cost.

Where your health and relationship are affected, cost should be the last factor to be considered. Some stop snoring cures are undeniably simple, like losing weight or training yourself to sleep on your side. All they require is a little effort on your part. And so you have to weigh up in your own mind whether stopping snoring is more important than eating some of those favorite foods, or worth the effort involved in training your brain to make sleeping on your side a habit.

Some snorers decide that surgery is the easiest answer; but although it may require less effort on your part, you subject yourself to the inherent risks implicit in any form of invasive surgery. One has to think very, very carefully before deciding that this is the best stop snoring solution for you. You have to weigh up the health and lifestyle risks which are caused by snoring against the risks or effort required in the method of stopping.

Ultimately, everyone who snores wishes that they didn't; nobody likes knowing that they keep their partner awake or drive them into the spare bedroom. Nobody likes waking up with a sore throat, sore ribs (from being elbowed) and a frosty atmosphere.

In fact most snorers are frustrated by being subjected to something which they seemingly cannot control. But you can take control of your snoring issues. There are many possible cures and solutions to snoring; it's just a matter of taking the time to research and find the right one for you.

Understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Anxiety Disorder

Posted by Admin Saturday, March 26, 2011 4:42 PM 0 comments
Anxiety disorder covers different types of unconventional phobias, pathological anxieties, and fears. Anxiety, according to medical terminology, is the emotional state or condition that an individual regarded as unpleasant. The cause or reason of unpleasantness is not, however, readily identified or defined by medical experts. Often used interchangeably with fear, anxiety conditions require accurate diagnosis so that better prognosis and effective anxiety treatment are provided.

One of the most common types of anxiety condition is the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This type of anxiety disorder is defined through a person's extreme compulsions and obsessions. This condition is often linked to the phrase "obsessive-compulsive" that basically refers to a person who is either too absorbed or meticulous.

Defining obsessions and compulsions
A person is diagnosed to have obsessive-compulsive disorder if he or she either has compulsions or obsessions or both.

Obsessions are recurring or persistent impulses and thoughts that are regarded by an individual as inappropriate, disturbing, and intrusive, thus, resulting to distress and anxiety. As these impulses and thoughts are not just necessarily concerns about personal matters or affairs, an individual suffering from OCD tries to disregard or to hide such concerns by means of neutralizing them with other actions or thoughts.
On the other hand, compulsions are characterized as interminable behaviors or thoughts that an individual performs as a response to his or her obsessive actions.

A person suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder is aware that his or her compulsions and obsessions are somewhat exaggerated and irrational. Apart from being time-consuming, an individual's obsessions and compulsions are known to cause distress or impairment to one's occupational and social functioning.

Symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder
The obsessive-compulsive disorder is distinguishable in a number of ways. Below are some of the notable symptoms of this type of anxiety disorder:
1.Habitual canceling or blocking out negative thoughts and concerns with positive or good thought. Some of the best examples of bad or negative thoughts are:
a.Chronic worries on particular actions and events like eating or leaving home without proper items.
b.Inappropriate sexual obsessions or thoughts.
2.Habitual aligning or fixing of things or objects at their proper or designated places.
3.Extreme fear of contamination. A person diagnosed with OCD is constantly worried about being contaminated with human or animal body secretions like sweat, vomit, saliva, mucus, as well as body excretions such as feces and urine.
4.Habitual clearing of throat.
5.Habitual hand washing.

Treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder
Recent community studies show that many OCD sufferers fail to seek clinical help due to stigma or shame of having the said type of anxiety disorder. Another noted reason for unaccounted OCD condition is that some people are not aware that they actually have an obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Generally, OCD is treated with three kinds of anxiety treatment: Cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, as well as medications.

As for the cognitive and behavioral therapies, one of the best treatments recommended to OCD sufferers is the exposure and response prevention. This treatment involves the process of tolerating anxieties that form when one does not perform a specific habitual actions or rituals.

Meanwhile, doctors and specialists often recommend selective reuptake inhibitor medications like fluvoxamine, sertraline, paroxetine, and fluoxetine to individuals suffering from OCD.

The dramatic changes in male vanity and sexuality

Posted by Admin Thursday, March 10, 2011 8:41 AM 0 comments
The only constant thing in this world is change... an irrefutable paradox of life. People, opinions, perceptions, feelings, relationships, and just about every other thing in this world is subject to change. As time elicit more changes, words continually change its meaning.

Even the centuries-old notions about male identity are now changing. Gone are the days when men were seen as Neanderthals who only use brute force to satisfy a need or an urge. Over time, men also underwent a process of refinement --- through culture, education, and other norm-setting beliefs that were developed in each era of history. For example, in the olden days, it was common to see men wearing long gowns and tunics. This is evident even today in Scotland where men wear their traditional skirts that bear their family or clan's "colors." It is also true that in some countries, the mere sight of a man wearing something that looks like a skirt would automatically attract unfavorable comments and insults.

According to traditional masculine concepts, men are supposed to be unconcerned about fashion, grooming, and other so-called feminine matters such as shoes and accessories. There is, however, a new concept of how it is to be a man. New forms of "manliness" has been called "metrosexuality." A metro sexual is a man who has special concern over grooming, fashion and other external matters that help improve one's physical appearance or image. The term "metrosexual" was first used by Mark Simpson, a British commentator, to refer to men who always looks at a mirror in a clear demonstration of vanity. Metrosexual men, unlike the customary "dirt-loving" men, are described as having a strong regard for their appearance. It's also noteworthy to see that these types of men have a "sharp eye" for fashion. Metrosexuals are said to be "aesthetically-concerned"... pampering themselves in salons, gyms, and other beauty-enhancing centers.

Metrosexuality is somewhat close to the concept of narcissism. The Greek myth of Narcissus, a man who loved himself in great excess is the origin of the word, narcissism. According to the story, Narcissus saw his reflection in a river and he grew to love his reflection so much that he reached for it in the water. Naricssus fell in the water and drowned. His love for his own face led to his own death.

Some observers of gender-issues view metrosexuality as a form of confusion of gender roles. Simply put, metrosexuals are "straight men acting like gays." Others even say that metrosexuality is one of the avenues for "gay wannabes." Those who are openly metrosexual defend their lifestyle by saying that their focus on fashion does not automatically make them gay. The firmly state that being conscious about clothes and accessories do not make them any less of a man.

But it is also viewed that metrosexuality should not only focus on externalities. Some say that this lifestyle should be exploited to promote sexual health. As defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), sexual health is not only about getting the right information to protect one's self from sexually transmitted disease. It is also having the right attitudes toward sexual activity and relationships with the opposite sex.

Indeed, sexual health must be taught and promoted as a way of life, especially among men.

Does A Personal Trainer Really Need A Fitness Business Consultant?

Posted by Admin 8:22 AM 0 comments
Asking why a personal trainer needs a Fitness Business Consultant is very similar to asking why a person who wants to get in shape needs a personal trainer.

That person has a basic idea of what his or her fitness goals are. They also know the basics of working out, or at least they think they do. They do all the different exercises they see other people at the gym doing, so they must be doing something right. And, even though is seems like a lot of work, they are starting to see some results from their efforts. So why would they need a personal trainer?

Well, as a personal trainers, we know that the exercises that most people do at the fitness center are usually performed with the wrong form, which can lead to injury. We also know that many people tend to use much heavier weights than they should because that's what they were always taught. And we also know that a person get far greater results than they ever imagined by performing the right exercise program in the right way, and usually not have to work as hard for those results. A personal trainer's job is to know how to accomplish the best results in the shortest amount of time. Our job is to take our clients' results to the next level.

Well the same holds true for why a personal trainer needs to work with a Fitness Business Consultant. When you start your fitness business you will probably do what all of the other personal trainers are doing. Offer the same services, charge the same amount per session, market your business in the same way and work with your clients in basically the same way. You do all the things that other personal trainers do, so you must be doing something right. And, even though it seems like a lot of work, you are starting to see some results from you efforts. So why would you need a Fitness Business Consultant?

Well, since I am also a Fitness Business Consultant, I know that most of what the majority of personal trainers are doing to build their fitness business just doesn't work. Sure you are going to get some results, but so would putting flyers on the windshields of cars in the grocery store parking lot. The job of a Fitness Business Consultant is to get you and your fitness business the greatest results in the shortest amount of time, and to keep those results coming. Our job is to take OUR clients' results to the next level.

Personal trainers have the skill, knowledge and passion to make them successful at what they do. But skill, knowledge and passion alone will not guarantee you a successful fitness BUSINESS. Proper Consultation and Dosage: Making Sleeping Pills Safe

Posted by Admin 8:16 AM 0 comments
Burt Reynolds, the star of Smokey and the Bandit, and many other movies, once went into a coma while trying to kick his sleeping pill addiction. He went into a coma for about eight or nine hours. At one point, the doctors already told his wife Loni to say her goodbyes. Reynolds said that at one point during his coma, he had what was called an "out-of-body experience." He said that, in the operating room, he even heard the doctor say, "We're losing him." That experience helped Reynolds get rid of his drug addiction.

Robbie Williams was another celebrity who battled with addiction. According to reports, he has checked himself into rehab to escape a spiral of caffeine and sleeping pill overdose, in addition to an addiction to antidepressant medications. News reports also revealed that the pop star is addicted to an antidepressant called Seroxat on top of his compulsive consumption of caffeinated drinks. It is said that Williams can consume over 50 highly caffeinated drinks a day in the form of double espressos or cans of Red Bull tonic. In a newspaper interview, Williams said: "I can't honestly say that I don't take too many prescription drugs. How many is too many? I don't know. If you drink as much coffee as I do, you can easily get into the too-many-sleeping-tablets thing."

In Robbie William's case, his caffeine addiction led him to an addiction to sleeping pills. But for millions of other people, the addiction to sleeping pills began due to the classic difficulty of sleeplessness. Having difficulty sleeping is a common problem shared by many. This is why sleeping pills are one of the most common medications in the market. Chronic insomnia can lead to an overall inability to cope and function in the world. Sleeping pills offer the promise of an improved night's sleep and an overall improved capacity to cope with worries and anxieties that usually keep an insomniac wide awake till the wee hours of the morning. Sleeplessness leads to a kind of desperation that makes sleeping pills like Ambien, Sonata, Restoril and Dalmane seem positively irresistible. But are they all they're made out to be? Do they in fact improve sleep and overall daytime functioning? The case against sleeping pills is compelling.

The following information points out some important reasons why the use of sleeping pills should be regulated and allowed only with doctor's approval.

· Those who use sleeping pills have significantly higher mortality rates than those who do not.
· Sleeping pills do little or nothing to improve chronic insomnia and cause long-term chemical dependency.
· Sleeping pills reduce brain cell activity during the day, affecting short-term memory as well as causing a hangover effect.
· Sleeping pills accentuate the GABA neurotransmitter, which keeps the nerve cells in the lung tissue from firing. This is why an overdose of sleeping pills will cause asphyxiation and over 1000 overdose related deaths each year.
· GABA actuation is also responsible for impaired physical ability. Each year, thousands of traffic deaths, car accidents and falls (especially in the elderly) are attributed to sleeping pills.
· Sleep Apnea Patients should never take sleeping pills. Sleeping pills increase the pauses and length of pause in breathing. Someone with sleep apnea could suffer brain or ocular damage from the lack of oxygen or even death.
· Anyone over the age of 40 should be cautioned against the use of sleeping pills, and anyone over the age of 65 should never take sleeping pills. Studies show that almost all people over 40 have some symptoms of sleep apnea, and anyone over 65 would be clinically diagnosed with sleep apnea.
· Sleeping pills create a hypnotic dependency similar to alcohol and lower inhibitions and fear of pain or consequences. This is one reason why sleeping pills contribute to accidents and why chronic sleeping pill users are less likely to worry or take care of themselves.
· Sleeping pills are highly addictive. Sleeping pills are similar to barbiturates and are extremely difficult to stop using.
· Although sleeping pills do not improve daytime functioning, people still prefer taking them because of the barbiturate feel-good effect they produce. As with many addictive drugs, they may not be helpful, but we feel good when we take them.

Long-term studies on the effects of sleeping pills surely point out the need for regulation and education about its uses and effects. But with proper consultation and dosage, people who need medical aids for sleeping be assured of greater safety in the use of these medications.
