The Most Dangerous Drugs to Humans

All drugs contain chemicals the body simply cannot use. Unfortunately, due to the toxic environment and the lifestyle many people have adopted, sickness and diseases are more prevalent than at any time throughout history. Part of the blame rests on the drugs that are routinely prescribed to alleviate the symptoms of ill health.

The toxic environment and the lifestyle many people have adopted have created sickness and diseases that were unknown a hundred years ago. While drugs are used to treat the symptoms, they create more health problems, some of which are very serious.

Many doctors refuse to take certain drugs as they are aware of the serious side effects those drugs pose to the health of their patients. Still they are willing to prescribe them to their patients. So it's up to the patient to ask the doctor if he'd take the drug he is prescribing and if not should ask the doctor why. If the doctor won't take it, the patient shouldn't either. If the doctor insists, finding a new doctor would be the better course of action.

Many symptoms can be treated through natural means and alleviated with alternatives that are not expensive nor interfere with the body's normal functioning. The following is a list of the most dangerous drugs that even doctors won't take:

Advair

It's commonly used to treat asthma. Its content, salmeterol, according to the Advair website “may increase the chance of asthma-related deaths.” Corticosteroids are often used as an alternative but fare no better as regular used of inhaled steroids causes bone loss in the hips of women between the ages of 18 to 45 who take it regularly.

Avandia

Used to treat diabetes, studies have shown a clear link of increased risk of congestive hear failure to the drug. According to a study by the New England Journal of Medicine, “Avandia increases heart attack risk by 43%”

Celebrex

It's an anti-inflammatory used to treat arthritis pain. Unfortunately, it also increases the risk of heart attack and stroke. Many non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) whether prescription or over-the-counter cause gastrointestinal bleeding. There are better alternatives than Celebrex to get those creaking joints moving again. The sting of the nettle plant has been shown to provide pain relief simply by swatting the affected joint.

Ketek

Used to fight pneumonia, a life threatening illness. Unfortunately, the chance of liver injury and failure can be just as deadly. The FDA has determined that doctors should not prescribe the drug to treat viral infections, but doctors routinely prescribe it to treat sinusitis and bronchitis.

Prilosec and Nexium

These are proton pump inhibitors and act to suppress stomach acids to prevent indigestion, and alleviate the symptoms of acid reflux (heartburn). Unfortunately they increase the risk of digestive inflammation and diarrhea, both caused by a bacterium that would otherwise be kept under control by stomach acids. Improperly digested food clogs the colon and creates an environment where bacteria can flourish. That bacteria can leak through the intestinal walls and into the bloodstream. The best way to prevent indigestion is to eliminate the foods that are causing the symptoms.

Pseudoephedrine

An over-the-counter decongestant, it has been linked to stroke and heart attacks. It comes under the familiar name of Sudafed. If you really want to clear out those sinuses a better alternative is to use a neti pot, a technique that uses warm water toi clear out the nasal passages.

While the doctor may reluctantly take an anti depressant such as Prozac and Lipidor, a statin, these drugs have serious consequences. Anti-depressants have been linked to suicidal tendencies, bizarre behavior and personality disorders, yet are prescribed to children and young adults regularly. Statins lower cholesterol but rob the heart of CoQ10, an essential nutrient the heart needs for proper functioning. Anyone who takes a statin should supplement with CoQ10.

This is hardly a complete list of drugs better avoided. They do little for the health of the sufferer and only add billions to the coffers of the drug companies that make them. Be aware of their side effects and if using them, use with caution.
